Kindergarten Orientation 3-day Program - recommended

After completing enrolment for your child at Mittagong Public School, set them up for a successful transition to school by participating in a 3-day Kindergarten Orientation program.  Over the course of three weeks, your child will have the opportunity to attend three fun and engaging sessions in our Kindergarten classrooms. Children will be able to meet the teachers, play with other children starting school the following year, meet their Year 4 buddy and build a positive relationship with their new school.

  • Session 1 - 9:00-10:45am Wednesday 23 October 2024
  • Session 2 - 9:00-10:45am Wednesday 30 October 2024
  • Session 3 - 9:00-10:45am Wednesday 6 November 2024

Family Picnic - optional

Following the Kindergarten Orientation program, we would like all families to join us for a family picnic at school. All family members are welcome, including siblings already enrolled at the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to get to know their new school and classmates, and for parents to connect with each other and the MPS teachers.

  • 10:30-11:30am - Wednesday 13 November 2024

Additional In Class Visits - optional

This is an additional and optional opportunity we are offering children to support them in feeling comfortable and familiar with the classroom and school environment before their transition to school. These will be arranged on an individual basis.

If you would like your child to participate in the Kindergarten Orientation Program, please contact the school office.

When to start school

Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.

If your child attends a preschool or childcare centre the school can work with them to help get to know your child and for you and your child to get to know the school. We would love for you to contact us today to organise a personal tour of our wonderful school.
